I hail from the North of England (where it rains all the time, even indoors…), so am completely obsessed with rain jackets and consider myself something of an expert on the subject.
The new Trailmade jacket from REI is the ideal hiking companion. As its name suggests, it is a soft-shell mid-layer designed to shield you from any wind and light rain that you may encounter. The jacket is thicker than your typical windbreaker, using stretch double-weave nylon materials and a water-repellent coating, enabling you to withstand the elements more effectively than an average pull-over.

Co-op Cycles Generation e1.2 Electric Bike
The 2nd electric revolution is well and truly underway. And while you may not quite be able to afford a Tesla, an electric bike may well be within your price range especially now that you can save up to 30% as part of REI’s Spring Bike Sale!
The new model of the e-bike, the Generation e2.1, has a front rack and a more powerful battery compared to the previous e1.1. Its low stand-over height design allows for easy mounting and dismounting, and the upright riding position provides excellent visibility. The stem is adjustable, allowing for customization of the cockpit to fit the rider’s needs.. The Bafang 350W hub-drive motor offers a smooth ride with five pedal-assist modes, as well as a walk mode. REI Co-Op Cycling Rain Jacket
Need a new jacket to go with that new bike? Basically cycling is safe and fun in many different seasons and weather conditions and I have cycled in torrential rain downpours (just check the tyres and breaks before you start and be sensible). However, if you are out on the bile and it rains you really do wait to have a good waterproof jacket with you.
Now, regular rain jackets are all good and well but many of them tend to get a bit sweaty if you exert yourself while wearing them. REI Co-op Trailmade Print Trekking Poles
If you haven’t experienced the joy of hiking with trekking poles, you’re missing out on a great aid. While not always essential, they are essentially an extra set of legs that can make the difference between hiking 40 miles versus 5 miles in a day. When you’re out in the backcountry with a 30-pound backpack on your back, trekking poles can help you maintain good posture (trust me, your lower back will thank you the next day) and offer extra stability on uneven terrain.
REI’s Trailmade Poles have foam grips, which I’ve come to prefer over cork grips over time, providing a comfortable companion for your hands during your trek. With their lightweight design and sturdy construction, the $69.95 price tag is more than reasonable in our opinion. And when you need a break from using the poles or are exploring the city, they can easily be disassembled and stowed in your backpack until you need their assistance again.

REI Co-op Trailmade 60 Pack – Nic
REI have knocked it out of the park with this no nonsense trekking backpack that offers some incredible features for a real bargain price. The padded back, shoulder straps and contoured hipbelt alongside the adjustable torso length mean its a super comfortable backpack for pretty much anyone of any size. The external compression straps are another welcome feature for those hours spent pounding the trails, they keep all your gear compact, tight and balanced. So no tipping over!
